HI!
My name is Joy Hwang Ruiz. I started "Mom Is Drawing" to capture magical and fleeing moments of my new role in parenthood, and still trying to figure out what it's all about. I want to empower fellow parents through my drawings, because I needed encouragement more than anyone.
We are mix of 3 continents (Asia, North America, Latin America) multilingual family living in Southern California. My illustrations celebrate love in families, and embrace inclusivity.
I wore many creative hats over the years. I’m former studio artist from contemporary art world / MTV On-air creative for 7 years, turned WFH mom with 2 young kids. My recent clients include Dove Baby, Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Simon Schuster, McMillan publisher, and Chronicle books.
My children's books & illustrations are represented by Molly O'Neil of Root Literary.
